about

This was recorded by the Skydiggers but it is originally a Grievous Angels song. We invited Andy from the Diggers to bring it all together.

lyrics

RED DEER TO MARGAREE

Passing time blowing smoke rings
Reading a menu covered in coffee stains
I can’t remember where we’ve been
or where we’re going to.
A take out cup for me and one for you.

Headlights carve out figures in the night
late night radio keeping me alive
Rain drops streak the window pane
Diesel fuel in a cool, damp rain
I followed you from Red Deer to Margaree

An old country song is ringing in my head
I sure do feel tired but at least I aint dead
you sleep so sound on my shoulder
as I take the drivers wheel
I followed you from Red Deer to Margaree.

Thunder bay is two hours from sight
We left the flatlands late last night.
As sunlight rises on a distant sky
and says good morning to our tired eyes.
You look to me and I know that its alright.

Someday we’ll put this truck away
and get us a place out near the bay.
And at night when you hold me tight
and we hear the trucks go a rolling by
I’ll have followed you from Red deer to Margaree.

about

GRIEVOUS ANGELS Cobalt, Ontario

“Authentic like Johnny Cash and Woody Guthrie”

“This is a brilliant folk album, and one for our times."
-The Spill Magazine

For the last three decades, the Grievous Angels have been carving out a unique place in the alt-roots landscape. Their songs conjure the tragic beauty of Canada’s northern blue collar frontier.

Their 8th album is a kick ass journey through dark and unsettled times.
